Experience

I attended Milton Academy for high school, where the writing program was extremely demanding. In middle school, I struggled as to keep up with the writing program and was often asked to stay after school for grammar drills. I found that it was when I finally connected particularly well with a teacher that I was able to grow as a writer. The writing process is as much an exercise grammatical proficiency as it is one in personal growth, and I love to see my students overcome the daunting task that is communicating clearly, concisely, and meaningfully. My past four years of tutoring has rewarded me not only with seeing my students' writing skills develop but also with seeing their written confidence strengthen. I was nominated by an English professor and selected to be a Writing Tutor at the college. I spent all four years of my college working with students on improving their writing skills and confidence. I also worked as a writing tutor at the a nearby high school, where I helped students improve their basic grammar and style skills as well as finding their written voices.
