After spending years as a tutor, I have discovered that the best way to make learning efficient is to bring fun into the equation. I majored in General Biology and minored in Psychology during my time studying at the University of California in San Diego, and earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University. My education in psychology gives me a unique perspective on the learning process of my students, and I am also very interested in child and adolescent psychology. I have actually tutored whole classrooms before, and I spent a long time tutoring a group of 7th and 8th grade students. I also have many years of experience tutoring students in grades 2, 3, 4, and 6. My specialties are helping students with coursework, STAR preparation, and helping older students prepare for the SAT. I have learned that making an extra effort as a tutor to bring a level of interest into the session by using games and reward systems can go a long way for the motivation and stimulation of the student, and ultimately, the increase in their grade. I was a student myself once, and I understand the difficulties of staying interested in a subject that seems boring.
