Experience

My tutoring background is both formal and informal. Regarding my formal experience, I was a General Chemistry MCAT Course Instructor with The Princeton Review. I taught a 10-week course for general chemistry concepts in which I organized my own lectures, designed handouts, and developed original problems in order to teach the concepts most pertinent to success on the MCAT. My informal training started as a General Chemistry tutor for the Gettysburg College Chemistry Department. For my one-on-one tutoring I generally tutored 3-5 students per semester and tutees. I also held group review sessions for all students in the General Chemistry courses. With these sessions I explained basic principles for the exams, designed practice questions, and answered student questions. I've also been a lab teaching assistant (TA) for multiple undergraduate courses (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology). With my bachelor and doctoral degrees I have over 10 years of experience not only learning these concepts, but in teaching them to tutees and colleagues. As a tutor my goal is to provide you with the knowledge to understand the topic and the confidence to solve any problem on your own. I have worked with students from a variety of backgrounds and have been able to help every tutee with an individualized approach to understanding science. Currently I'm a Post-Doctoral Researcher studying cardiovascular disease. I've been conducting basic scientific research for nearly ten years and have authored several scientific papers with my findings.
