Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Rochester. During the course of my education, I gained valuable tutoring experience working with high school and college students with varied learning styles, aptitudes, and academic goals. I also worked several terms as a teaching assistant in several higher level math courses which allowed me to further hone my own mathematical skills and to expand my teaching toolbox. My primary tutoring focus remains within the field of mathematics. Some of the courses I tutor are algebra 1 & 2, calculus 1 & 2, geometry, elementary math, middle school math, pre-calculus, trigonometry, arithmetic, algebra 3/4, finite mathematics, and pre-algebra. I also enjoy helping students prepare for the math portion of standardized exams such as the SAT and ACT. My holistic tutoring style takes into consideration the individual needs of each of my students. I offer a creative and nonjudgmental environment for students to feel free to explore the subject so they are able to gain a better understanding of the concepts. I break down what initially appear to be complex and abstract concepts into more easily accessible components so they do not become overwhelming for my students. As we build their foundational knowledge, students are able to more easily integrate new lessons into their understanding of the subject.
