I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marist College (2004) and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Boston University (2012). I also have over a decade of experience tutoring, teaching, and coaching in a public school setting.
Experience
I am an experienced middle school and high school math and science tutor. My schedule is flexible. My hourly rate is competitive and negotiable. In fact, any reasonable rate that works for you and your family will likely work for me. Getting you or your student on the right track is my only priority. My Teaching Philosophy: There are few things more sad to me than when a person — particularly a young person — becomes frustrated, loses motivation, and gives up on something that he or she was once interested in or could become interested in simply because it is challenging. Unfortunately, learning about math and science can have that effect on a student and the subjects often become loathed and avoided because of it. I want to put an end to that by helping young people to better understand the value and importance of learning about math and science in a supportive environment. I enjoy working with young people and figuring out how to bring out their enthusiasm for math and science, in spite of the challenge the subjects have to offer, so they may one day become independent, confident, and successful students. My Qualifications: I am licensed by the Massachusetts DOE to teach math, chemistry, and biology at the high school level. Over the past decade, I have been professionally employed as a substitute teacher, a classroom teacher, a tutor, and a coach. I have thousands of hours of classroom experience and I have tutored dozens of students, some for many years. Additionally, I hold a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Bioinformatics and I have professional experience as a web developer and as a data scientist/data analyst.
